A. Oooo thats gonna be so hott!! Wear a brightly colored leotard over some bright tights or leggings with legwarmers and keds or some other white tennis shoe. And wear the sweatband around your head with a high side ponytail with a big scrunchie. You could also wear a loose t-shirt over it.

In the 1980s we were told that computers would simplify our lives. What caused that to change?
Q. In the 1980s, we were told that computers would be wonderful as they would simplify our lives. But, now so many of us have computers, cell phones, IPODs, voice mail, all of which take time to respond and to keep up with. And, we feel it's necessary to keep up with all of those items. What happened to these items simplifying our life?

A. Some things have made our lives easier. Simpler? Anytime an appliance comes with an instruction book larger than it is... Computers, if used as intended back in the 80's would simplify our lives-but like every other "new and improved" model it seems the further we go away from the original purpose the more complicated and time-consuming the product becomes. I recently purchased a gas stove. I studied all the stoves on the market because I did NOT want bells and whistles. I wanted a plain, simple appliance that would work if we lost electric power. Well, it would work-partially. The oven does not have a pilot light but is regulated by an electrical source, if the power goes out, the oven quits working. So, who really benefits… [cont.]

What are some good pre-1980s Canon 35mm camera models to buy used?
Q. As in before Canon changed to the EF auto focus lens mount, so pre-1980s. I noticed all the manual focus FD lenses are dirt cheap used. So what's a good camera to buy used to use with them? I had a EOS Rebel X, but it along with all my lenses was stolen. So I'm starting from scratch.

The winter of 1981-2 was very snowy, the worst year i can remember, though i lived a bit further north, in south derbyshire. it started snowing on december the thirteenth, and there was hoar frost and freezing fog around well into february. there was heavy snow in the february of 1987 or 88, but it only lasted about a week.

Who is your favorite President of the United States during the 1980s?
Q. During the 1980s, three men served as President of the United States of America. These men included Jimmy Carter who served from 1977 to 1981, Ronald Reagan who served from 1981 to 1989 and George H.W. Bush who served from 1989 to 1993. Although all three men were influential to American History, which one was your favorite during the 1980's? My favorite would be Ronald Reagan because he knew how to work with both Democrats and Republicans to Move America Forward and knew how to work with World Leaders to end Communism without firing a single weapon.

Why did illegal migrant flow from Latin America only accelerate in the 1980s?
Q. Ever since illegal immigration began to rapidly accelerate in the 1980s, the nation's ethnic and cultural survival has been perhaps irreversibly pushed to the edge. But why didn't this happen on such a large scale before then? How much of it has to do with NAFTA and free trade agreements, and Reagan/Bush Sr.'s policies? Why are both Obama and McCain so insensitive and passive to the nation's outrage over the open border?

What was college orientation like in the 1980s?
Q. I'm writing a story that takes place in the 1980s, and one of the characters is going to college. I was wondering if they had orientation programs then like they do now, with icebreaker activities, information sessions about the college, etc. If you have any personal stories, that would be great.
Asked by Kate - Wed Mar 25 22:57:39 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I went to UofSC in 1981. There was no orientation - at least not one I knew about. There was nothing. I registered for classes, got a schedule, and went to class. If you were lucky, an upperclassman or two would help you out. If you were unlucky, they'd trip you up for fun. Watch the beginning of Revenge of the Nerds (1st one) - that was in about the period. You showed up and figured it out - fast. Note: I was one of the nerds. Computer using nerd in '81 - and in the band.

I doubt any survivors would still hold allegiance to their nations, because there would be no nations, no taxes and no government. People would still be in their fallout shelters living a dreadful existence just trying to hang in there.
